Around The Web – Issue #1

From David Thrift, editor at MUDPIX MAGAZINE:

Here are some links to articles I’ve read lately that I found interesting. It is 9:12 PM CST on Saturday night, September 14th, 2019 as I’m doing the final edits for this first edition of Around The Web, a new blog section where I bring you links to interesting articles I’ve recently read that you may want to check out for yourself. I had not intended on spending the majority of my day browsing and reading articles like I did, but I’m glad I did. It gave me the opportunity to get this blog category started as I had been planning to do it for awhile. I hope that with Around The Web I will bring some great article links for you to explore in each issue. I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. So let’s get started with Around The Web – Issue #1.

From CNN Style Arts:

Studio 54: The Disco Playground Where Sex And Glamour Reigned – Read on Saturday, September 14th, 2019. My comments: Ok I didn’t actually read the whole article. I just skimmed through it mostly. I bet the book is interesting.

The Work Of Beloved TV Artist Bob Ross Is Finally Being Recognized In An Exhibition – Read on Saturday, September 14th, 2019. My comments: I remember watching this show when I was very young on public tv. As the article states, it’s hard to not watch the show even if you aren’t painting along. Bob Ross had a voice and painting style that makes his craft captivating to watch.

The Photographer Shooting A 30 Year Time-lapse Of New York’s Skyline – Published September 12th, 2019. Read on Saturday, September 14th, 2019. My comments: This is something I could totally see myself trying to do if I had the time, the equipment, and the skills to set up. I don’t think the views would be as spectacular though from any of the windows in my house.

From CNN Travel:

This Photographer Captures Airplane’s Technicolor Rainbow Trails – Read on Saturday, September 14th, 2019. My comments: Never saw or heard of rainbow contrails until today. Great photos in this article.

From Lifehacker:

Manage Your Messy Desktop With Windows 10’s New PowerToys – Read on Saturday, September 14th, 2019. My comments: This is my first time hearing about “PowerToys” for Windows (“for Windows” written because my first thoughts about that product name were not clean). I did not fully read the article. At this point I only know it has something to do with managing your Windows desktop.

The Best Way to Quickly Install Apps on a New Windows PC – Read on Saturday, September 14th, 2019. My comments: I’m the guy that still installs my software the old school way (one at a time), but according to this article there is a faster way to do this. I really don’t run that much software myself so I’m not sure the info in the article will do me any good or not, and I didn’t read the full article either. It’s another article I’ll have to read more in depth some other time.
