Day Trip April 26th 2019

Thanks for viewing my first Day Trip post. If you aren’t already familiar with my content on this site, here’s a quick intro…

I have been into photography for a long time and my primary interest with my camera work is outdoor candid photography which includes nature, wildlife, and people around the lakes in Georgia and Alabama. I bought my first “good” camera in 2016 and using it pretty much solidified my interests in photography. Before then, it was basically just cellphone photography that I did (mostly for fun and because all I had was my cellphone cameras). This site is my “journal” of photography served in the form of my self published digital (pdf) magazines. The magazines start from the very beginning of my photography with my “good” camera (which is Canon’s SX410 bridge camera for those interested to know). Since the magazines are focused on my older photography (for now until I catch up on all the editing of thousands of photos that are going into these magazines) I thought it would be nice to start these Day Trip posts to highlight my more recent photography that would be coming up in later issues of the magazines.

So how this will work is with each Day Trip post, I’ll provide the date, maybe a few short paragraphs about my photography on that day and then show you a few photos taken on that date. I think you’ll enjoy the work I have to show you.

So let’s get started with this first Day Trip post featuring photos I shot on Friday, April 26th, 2019.

This day I found a new park on West Point Lake in Georgia. It’s Rocky Point Park and it’s my newest favorite park on the lake. It features a swimming beach and a big fishing pier. I discovered also that (sadly) it appeared that a large portion of the park had been abandoned and closed off. There was a long paved road where the pavement has become cracked and overgrown with weeds and trees. This portion of the park looked like it hadn’t been used in 20 years. I didn’t take any photos of that area because it made me sad to see what was probably once a beautiful part of the park abandoned and allowed to become unkept. I loved the fishing pier. It provides a gorgeous wide view of the lake for photo taking. For fishermen it provides lots of room to get over the water with plenty of benches for sitting. I also visited some other parks on the lake that day which included Anderson Park, West Overlook, and Long Cane Park.

I captured over 200 photos that day that will appear in a future issue of MUDPIX MAGAZINE which included the pier, scenery, fishermen, and boaters. Take a look at some of the highlights from my day trip on Friday, April 26th, 2019 below.
